UK Government offers Immigration Visa for Skilled Persons who can contribute
to the growth of British Economy. Highly Skilled Migrant Programme or
HSMP as it is known popularly offers the facility for individuals to
relocate to the UK without any Work Permit sponsorship from a UK employer
or huge investment in business.
HSMP leads to Permanent Resident status known as Right to Abode in
the UK after 4 years continuous stay in the UK under HSMP. Initial Visa
or Entry Clearance is granted for a period of 1 to 2 years and the same
is extended further for a period of 3 or 2 years to make it total 4
years.
If you have stayed in the UK for 4 years under HSMP you can apply for
PR status and then you can apply for the UK citizenship as per the UK
Immigration Laws.
HSMP scheme operates on a points based system and you can score points
for your Education, Work Experience, Earnings, Significant Achievements
and your Partner or Spouse's Skills. From 1st November 2003 the qualifying
points are reduced to 65 from 75 and there is provision for 10 points
for Spouse's Skills.
There is also a special Young Persons Assessment Scheme for persons
below 28 years of age as it is considered that the young persons will
be active in UK labour market for a longer time.
